Perennials are plants that revert to ground level each winter and produce new growth each spring. They have a minimum life span of three years.

Most perennials may be planted at anytime during the year except when the ground is frozen. Early blooming hardy perennials may be planted early in the fall so the roots get well established before flowering time. Late flowering perennials may be planted in the spring.

Lilies Perennials need to be watered regularly up to the time the ground freezes. The foliage may be cut back in the spring or fall. Mulch with straw or peatmoss.
